Teach in China program participants are provided with everything they need to begin teaching and living in China. This program is ideal if you have never been to China before and/or have little or no teaching experience. The Teach in China program includes:

Job Placement. The most qualified participants teach at a premier Chinese school with a pre-arranged contract and a top-rate salary between $1,600 and $1,800 per month (the average salary through most other programs is between $400 and $700 per month). Teachers also receive free comfortable housing, free or minimal utilities (including internet) and health insurance, all while living on a picturesque campus. Participants are guaranteed to work with other Foreign Experts teachers at their school. Note: Participants’ day-to-day responsibilities are with the Chinese host institution; while Foreign Experts acts as an advocate for participants, it is not their employer.

Pre-Departure Preparation. Upon being accepted to the Teach in China program, you’ll get The Foreign Experts Program Guide, a complete guide to living and teaching in China. Written by teachers who lived and worked at your school, it contains information about everything from ordering noodles to finding a Chinese language tutor. We’re also available to help answer all your questions as you prepare.

5-day Shanghai Orientation (August 2007). Before starting your teaching assignment, you’ll attend an orientation program that helps you prepare
for everything you'll do in China. You’ll learn about your school, city, adjusting to a new culture, and about all aspects of living in China. We'll also cover practical English as a Foreign Language (EFL) methods and instruction geared towards your specific teaching needs. You'll also receive guidance for your first day of class. (Orientation & hotel cost included in the program fee).

English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Training. During June and July 2007, program participants can participate in an (on-line) EFL training course. Led by a qualified EFL/ESL teacher trainer, the curriculum is beneficial to both new and experienced participants. The course combines EFL theory with methods particular to the Chinese educational system. You’ll prepare for your classes and have an open forum to ask questions and share ideas.

Visa Assistance. We help you navigate the immigration process and secure the right visa. Participants must submit the visa processing fee ($50) to the Chinese Embassy directly.

Flight Arrangement & Airport Pick-up. Foreign Experts arranges your flight to China, transportation to your hotel for orientation and your new school. (Flight cost not included in program fee).

Lonely Planet Mandarin Phrasebook, a must-have for all travelers to China.

Travel Insurance. Applicants receive an International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC) with travel insurance coverage and discounts on purchases.

Support. Beginning with the application process and throughout your year in China, you have full access to support from Foreign Experts. While your employment and day-to-day responsibilities are with your host institution, we have someone in-country to help answer your questions and assist you however we can.
