Foreign Experts is looking for people who are native-level English speakers and have one of the following (or will have prior to the start of teaching in August 2007):
- one or more years of teaching experience and an undergraduate or graduate degree
- an undergraduate or graduate degree in Education, English, or a related subject
- an undergraduate or graduate degree in any subject, with a strong GPA and application
Other:
- Applicants should also have a strong interest in both teaching and travel. An open-mind, patience, independence, initiative and a desire to learn about other cultures are necessary ingredients for being a successful teacher.
- Teachers must be able to make a ten-month (late August through June) commitment and pass a health exam after arrival in China.
- No Chinese language proficiency is required. Your job requires only English, the staff at the school speak English, and you can quickly learn, at a minimum, survival Chinese.
- No teaching experience is required, although having some will broaden your placement options.
- Married couples are encouraged to apply together.
Note: Foreign Experts LLC arranges job placement for participants and acts as a participant advocate but is not itself the participant’s employer. Foreign Experts LLC is an intermediary agency, and participants’ routine responsibilities and contacts will be with their host institution or school. Program participants’ sign a separate contract with their host institution.
The majority of schools in China accept teachers based on just two qualifications – English fluency and a university degree. Having a strong application and teaching experience will, however, enhance your attractiveness to Chinese schools, which are solely responsible for hiring decisions.
